This day is devoted to exploring the historical and natural splendor of the Beşparmak (Five Finger) Mountains, combining invigorating activity with mindful wellness.
Our journey begins with a refreshing walk through the pristine forests, allowing you to breathe the oxygen-rich air and appreciate the mountain environment before arriving at our first destination: Sourp Magar Armenian Monastery.
Sourp Magar Armenian Monastery
Nestled within a forested valley at an elevation of 510 meters, Sourp Magar was historically a significant center of Armenian culture. The monastery is celebrated for its remarkably picturesque location, offering a distant view of the Mediterranean Sea and, on clear days, the mountains of Anatolia. We will take time to soak up the tranquil atmosphere of this sacred site before enjoying a catered picnic lunch amidst its peaceful grounds, marveling at the sweeping views.
Buffavento Castle: The Defier of Winds
The program continues with an ascent to the majestic Buffavento Castle. Standing at an impressive 955 meters above sea level, Buffavento is the highest of the three iconic Crusader castles. Its origins likely trace back to a 10th-century Byzantine watchtower used to guard the island against Arab raids.
While the climb to the summit requires effort, the reward is an unparalleled 360-degree panoramic view that, on a clear day, encompasses the northern coastline, Kyrenia, Nicosia, and the distant Troodos Mountains. Here, you will discover the castle's rich history and understand why it earned its unique name, the "Defier of the Winds."
As the day concludes, you will have the unique opportunity to engage in a tranquil Sunset Yoga or Pilates session at the top of Buffavento Castle. This exceptional wellness practice will be conducted while watching the magnificent sun dip below the horizon, creating a truly unforgettable moment of peace and breathtaking scenery.
We will then commence the drive back to the hotel.
